Welcome

At Tuckaway we have been creating fond memories for our anglers for over 60 years. We pride ourselves in providing personalized service, and doing what we can to make your stay at Tuckaway a pleasant one. In 2006, 75 percent of our clients were repeat customers. This is a statistic we are very proud of and plan on maintaining.

Since 2004 Dan Bullock has assumed management duties at Tuckaway along with his usual guiding duties. Since that time there have been many new anglers finding there way to the camp as well as many folks who were "Tuckaway Alumini" and found their way back. The common theme being we do everything possible to make your visit a memorable one. Our ultimate goal is to have guests leave happy and tell there friends about us. Renate Bullock who started her career at Tuckaway in 1986 continues to be a guest favorite with her outstanding abilities for guiding, fly tying, fly casting and baking shore snacks and overall love for her job and the river.

From 1961 until 2003 Vince and Hazel Swazey operated Tuckaway, taking over from Fred and Mary Swazey who first opened their doors to sports in 1939 for both hunters and anglers. There have been some changes over the years, the original lodge being lost to an ice jam in 1970. Another cabin was lost to fire due to an electrical storm in the 70's. The remaining cabins still contain original logs from the lodge, and the same spirit of warm hospitality also remain. Full meal plans which were once offered have also been replaced with the current housekeeping arrangements which is one not often found on the Miramichi.
Vince continues to guide part time, and is never far from the river. He is also the present Chairman of the Miramichi Salmon Associaton, and also spends countless hours promoting conservation with various organizations.
